TennesseeSportsNet has learned that Marshall County Tiger starting QB Bryce Wallace reportedly is going back to the Bobcats. Wallace, the brother of famed quarterback Bo Wallace former Ole Miss standout and Giles County star, is a senior this year. Wallace 5’11” 165 as a junior in 2017 put up 1,780 yards threw the air, ran for 622 yards and accounted for 25 total touchdowns for last year’s Class 4A semifinalist Tigers. Back in 2016 Bryce’s brother Bo came to Lewisburg to coach his younger sibling. Bo was hired by Thomas Osteen, head coach of Marshall County. Osteen was the QB coach at Giles County and coached the older Wallace when he was a Bobcat.
TSN was told Bryce reportedly announced it today at practice. His brother Bo is back and coaching at Giles County and Bryce reportedly wants to get back with him. The transfer will have to be approved by the TSSAA. The requirements (1) the family will have to move into the school systems district. The TSSAA rule states:
Transfers generally are ineligible for varsity competition at their new school for 12 months after their last athletic competition at their old school unless there is a “bona fide change of residence” from one school zone to another.” All transfer students must be approved by the Executive Director of TSSAA before participating in any game. A student who engages in three or more days of practice – including spring practice – with a high school in which he or she is enrolled shall be ineligible in that sport for 12 months if the student enrolls in another school without a corresponding change in the residence of his or her parents.
Tennessee high school football week 1 is early this year. The season begins August 17th. Marshall County was picked in one pre-season publication 5th in 4A. This change could surely toss a wrinkle in their season.
