Mt Pleasant Tigers Roar Into Second Round!

The Mt Pleasant Tigers, before a packed house, tame the Lions of Scotts Hill 41-0 to advance into the second round of the 2022 TSSAA State Football Playoffs.

1) The quick-scoring offense got it going early as Darien Meza (3/70yds 1TD) takes a Lion punt 45-yards to pay dirt with 10:15 in the first quarter. 7-0 Tigers (9-1).
2) The Tiger scoring came quick and furious all night. Jakyri McClure added another TD with a 15-year run to put Mt Pleasant up 14-0 with 7:16 left.

3) With 1:38 to play in the first, Perez Carter intercepts a Kyle Carter pass- 3 plays later Tigers’ Austin Hicks trots in from 8-yards out. Jackson Colliers kick good and it’s 21-0 Mt Pleasant.
4) Meza, back again with a 35-yd pass reception from Tiger QB Nick Brown and Tigers continued to pull away up now 28-0 at the half.

As the game moved into the third quarter the Tigers defense continue to give the Lions a fit as they just allow Scotts Hill 71 yards of total offense. Austin Hicks added another TD (6 carries 32 yards and 2 touchdowns) giving Mt Pleasant a 34-0 lead at the 9:25 mark. It was a cherry-on-top as the Tigers block a Lions punt and scoop and score as Keevan Cooper(above) takes the pigskin to the endzone and the Tigers route the Lions 41-0.

Mt Pleasant rushed the ball 22 times for 113 yards and were 5 of 8 passing for 89 yards with a total of 202 yards of total offense. The Tigers advance and will hosts Decatur County-Riverside a 56-31 winner over Loretto.

Other Regional Action Adamsville wins a close one over Richland 35-34 and Lewis County gets by Cascade 32-24.
