Ten baseball and softball teams who make up the NJCAA Region VII have converged on Columbia Tennessee for the annual state tournament which is the first step to the NJCAA 2019 World Series. TSNSports spoke to TCCAA Baseball Commissioner Bobby Hudson about what’s in store for the baseball fan:
This year’s tournament is being hosted by Columbia State Community College May 5-9. Opening day was a huge success. Thousands made their way to Dave Hall Field and Eddie Campbell Field for the first day’s action.
Sunday started with play-in games in both baseball and softball with Volunteer State and Jackson State advancing in baseball and Jackson State and Cleveland State winning in softball. A couple of games were also played in round one of the double-elimination bracket in softball. Vol State beat host Columbia State. And Motlow State beat Dyersburg State in an 8 inning 3-hour game.
