The Columbia Post 19 19U squad trailed Pulaski Post 60 3-0 after 2 innings in Saturday’s winners bracket final of the 2018 American Legion Tennessee State Tournament being played at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, until the 3rd frame rolled around. You see the third inning seems to be the starting point. Friday Post 19 tallied 6 runs versus Post 91. Saturday it was that magic number once again as Columbia put up 6.
But in the first two innings Pulaski had Post 19’s number. Starting pitcher Andrew Lindsey was a little shaky, Lindsey gave up 6 walks and 3 runs. In the first frame Kendall Franklin scored on a pass ball and in the second Jake Jackson and Jason Hogan scored on a walk and single respectfully. Andrew settled down and retired the next six batters faced.
For Columbia, it was another productive third-inning. Another 6 number. Jackson Cook and Nathan Massey led off with back to back walks followed by a Jaylen Smith single. With one out Will McCall towers a fly ball to right-center plating Jackson Cook making the score 3-1 Post 60. Matt Joslin doubles in Nathan Massey and Columbia trailed by 1, 3-2. Post 19 wasn’t done. With 2 outs Andy Hale singles scoring two, Jaylen Smith & Joslin. The Pulaski brief lead was erased as Post 19 takes a lead they would not relinquish 6-3 as 12 batters step to the plate for Columbia for the second straight night. Columbia added some insurance runs in the 4th and 7th innings, and they helped as Pulaski cut into the Post 19 lead with a run in the 5th and 7th. Matthew Joslin pounded out 2-doubles with 2 RBI and Andy Hale 2 hits with 3 RBI to lead Post 19. Post 19 wins 8-5 and will play for the championship Sunday at 4:00 pm in a rematch with Pulaski Post 60.
Andrew Lindsey gets the win going 5 innings. Jacob James, Jackson South and Ethan Mealer also saw some action on the mound. Dylan Barbee took the loss for Pulaski.
