The Tennessee American Legion state tournament winner Post 19 has advanced to the Mid-South Regional that is scheduled to be played at Kirsch Rooney Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana for a second consecutive summer Aug. 8-12.
Winner of the Mid-South Tournament, which pairs state champions from Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and the host team, Jesuit-based Retif Oil, then advances to the American Legion World Series scheduled for Aug. 16-21 at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, North Carolina.
Columbia Post 19 will face the Mississippi state champions on August 8 at 9:30AM. Columbia will play Tupelo 49ers a 2-1 winner over Pontotoc on July 27th.
One team Columbia will be familiar with is Gauthier Amedee of Louisiana.The Wombats enter on a five-game winning streak that is part of a 24-1 run that culminated July 4th week, winning the Independence Day Classic in Columbia, a longstanding tournament consisting of 16-teams, featuring five state Legion champions from a year ago. This years line up should prove to be one the best ever at the Mid-South Tournament.
The American Legion Mid-South Regional will culminate on Sunday August 12 with the 2018 title game held at 2PM.
