Tennessee Community College Athletic Association Names Women’s Soccer Conference Team & Special Awards!

The Tennessee Community College Athletic Association released their Women’s Soccer All-Conference Teams and Award Winners on Saturday.

For award winners, Columbia State’s Abigale Alexander was named the TCCAA Player of the Year while Motlow State’s Elva Nunes was named the TCCAA Freshman of the Year. Pellissippi State’s Mariana Diaz Lopez was named the TCCAA Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

A defender, Alexander was named TCCAA Player of the Year following a season that saw her score ten goals and tally three assists for Columbia State in 13 matches. Alexander’s ten goals were fifth in the conference and her 23 points were fifth in the conference. Alexander had three game-winning goals and headlined a backline that allowed just 10 goals all season.

The freshman of the year, Nunes had a sensational season for Motlow State. Nunes was tied for first in the conference with 17 goals in 18 matches and first in points with 39. Nunes had five game-winning goals and was fourth in the conference in shot percentage at .340.

TSN NOTE: Columbia State Lady Chargers freshman Ally Hawkins of Blackman High School in Murfreesboro was tied in the TCCAA with 17 goals in 14 matches. She tallied 41 points. Hawkins added 7 assists. Rounding out the awards was Diaz Lopez. In their second year as a program, Diaz Lopez guided the Panthers to a 5-3-3 overall record and 4-1-3 record in conference play and the No. 3 seed in the TCCAA/Region 7 Tournament.

On First Team All-TCCAA were Columbia State’s Alexander, Ansley Alexander, Ally Hawkins, Cassie Groves and Emily Campos, Motlow State’s Nunes, Libby Vincent, Erin Worthington, Alina Arneth and Camden Prosser, Dyersburg State’s Addie Hurt, Southwest Tennessee’s Maria Carrico and Pellissippi State’s Katie Browning.

Named All-TCCAA Honorable Mention were Motlow State’s Aura Zeledon and Pellissippi State’s Erika Correa and Yuri Garcia.
