TennesseeSportsNet is happy to announce that former Forrest Lady Rockets/MTSU Blue Raiders softball star is headed to the Southeastern Conference.
All Tennessee Lady Vols softball fans will be happy to know Mealer has selected Tennessee as her new home.
Mealer told #TSNSports today that she has chosen the University of Tennessee. Mealer said, “The University of Tennessee is where I will be continuing my academic and athletic career!!” She recently visited the UT Campus and loved “every single thing” about it.
“I can’t even begin to explain how grateful I am for this opportunity! The University of Tennessee has been my dream school since I was a little 8 year old girl. I enjoyed every single thing about my visit, and The University of Tennessee just felt like home to me!”
The C-USA 1st team shortstop helped the Blue Raiders gain high-acclaim during the Tuscaloosa Regional Tournament. They forced a winner-take-all game vs host Alabama with a big home run in their 4-1 win. Mealer hit 2 total in their 2 games. She also was selected on the NCAA All-Regional Team.
Mealer was also a big part of the most wins in program history. Third conference championship in program history and the program’s first three NCAA Tournament wins. And for sure she’ll be tough to replace!
For the season the former Forrest Lady Rocket led MTSU with a .388 BA, up from last year. Blasted out 12 homers, 2 more than in 2022. Also had 57 RBI, scored 67 runs and had 78 hits. Mealer had an amazing OPS of 1.163.
Laura says she’ll be studying criminology as her major and then will head to law school.
